Carbon Filter

No Special Processing: Carbon Behaves Like Other Filter Media

Those who have never manufactured activated carbon air filters often expect complications: carbon dust, granule loss, and difficult handling. In SPM’s experience, this is not the case.

The material, whether in the form of impregnated fabric or a layer of granules between two non-woven layers, is handled by the line exactly like any other filter media. No additional measures are required compared with standard production.

Impregnated Fabric or Non-Woven Sandwich: Two Variants, Same Line

The machine configuration is the same as that used for prefilters and panel filters: 92XTS pre-cutting, 91XPL/91XSPL blade pleating, 90XSB strip gluing or the SV variant, cutting and final gluing with 95XCUT and 94XTA.

In practice, a manufacturer already equipped with an SPM line for standard filters does not need a separate system to add carbon filters to its product range. The only requirement is to load the different material upstream.

Where These Filters Are Used

Customers manufacturing these filters mainly operate in three markets: automotive for combined cabin air filters, the food industry for extractor hoods, and residential ventilation for air purifiers.

These three markets have very different production volumes. The same basic line serves all three without structural modifications.
