Pre-filter

Three technologies, one selection criterion: the material

The pre-filter is the product where the choice of pleating machine matters more than anywhere else. Materials vary considerably: lightweight G3/G4 synthetic media from 100 to 300 g/m², two- or three-layer multilayer media, and composites with bonded metal or plastic mesh.

Each material responds differently to pleating. SPM offers three technologies. Blade pleating (91XPL/91XSPL): up to 300 pleats per minute, for synthetic and flexible materials. Star-wheel roller pleating (91XPRS): the same speed, for more rigid materials. Cylinder pleating (91XFPC): 200 pleats per minute, and the only solution for pleat heights above 150 mm.

The complete line: from pleating to finished cutting

Downstream of the pleating process, the line continues with strip gluing. For high-volume production, SPM uses the automatic strip gluing machine 90XSB: it can reach up to 600 filters per minute and is available in a screwless version for fast format changes.

For lower production volumes, the 95XCUT-HM combines cutting and gluing in a single operation, with a production rate of approximately 5 pieces per minute.

Dimensional range and special heights

The standard range covers widths from 150 to 1,200 mm and pleat pitches from 5 to 30 mm. These dimensions cover the vast majority of civil and industrial HVAC applications.

When a pleat height above 150 mm, up to 300 mm, is required, the only choice is the 91XFPC cylinder pleating machine. It is the only SPM machine capable of reaching this height. It is worth checking this requirement before selecting the line configuration, not afterwards.

Application Sectors

CONSTRUCTION

Used to improve air quality on construction sites, these filters reduce workers’ exposure to harmful dust. By pre-filtering coarse particles, they help maintain a healthier and safer working environment.

ENERGY INDUSTRY

Essential for ensuring clean air in energy facilities, these filters improve safety and operational efficiency. By removing unwanted particles, they protect equipment and help maintain plant reliability.

INDUSTRIA PESANTE

These filters protect machinery and improve air quality, contributing to a safer working environment. Their ability to pre-filter coarse particles helps prevent failures and extend equipment service life.

MEDICAL

Used in hospitals and clinics, these filters ensure clean air, protecting patients and staff by pre-filtering coarse particles.

RESIDENTIAL

By filtering particles such as dust and pollen, they help create a healthier environment for families, promoting overall well-being.

MANUFACTURING

Used to maintain clean air in production environments, pre-filtering coarse particles is crucial for ensuring a safe workplace and compliance with regulations.

AGRICULTURAL

The main purpose of these filters is to pre-filter the air and remove coarse particles such as leaves, pollen, dust, and sand.

FILTRATION AND SEPARATION

The pre-filter not only improves air quality but also protects the main filters from rapid clogging, extending their service life and optimizing the efficiency of filtration systems.
