Up to 60 inches: the longest format in the SPM range
The liquid filter cartridge is the longest-format product manufactured by SPM, available in lengths of up to 60 inches. The materials used are polypropylene, polyester, fiberglass and PTFE.
The standard production process includes: unwinding and pre-cutting of the roll (92XTS, also for multilayer materials), blade or roller pleating, cross-cutting with edge bonding (94XTT-HM) to form the cylindrical closure, and casting on the 101COMPACT or on multi-station lines for high-speed production cycles.
The automatic pleat-counting cutting machine
SPM manufactures an automatic cutting machine with integrated pleat counting. To the best of SPM’s knowledge, this technology is not available from other filter-machine manufacturers.
At a customer’s production facility, switching from manual cutting to this cutting machine delivered measurable results: production capacity doubled, from one to two lines operating in parallel, while labor requirements were halved, from two operators to one.
Epoxy resin or polyurethane: how to choose the end-cap sealing method
For end-cap sealing, SPM offers two options. The first is bonding with epoxy resin. The second is direct casting with semi-expanded or expanded polyurethane.
The choice depends on three factors: acceptable curing times, chemical compatibility with the filtered fluid, and cost per piece. SPM configures the production line according to the customer’s choice. The main applications include drinking water treatment, pharmaceutical manufacturing, and the food and chemical industries.
